Cadillac Williams Status

Recently Earnest Graham signed a 3 year, $10m deal with the Bucs (at least where I read). This is the writing on the wall for all the Cadillac Williams fans. After suffering a season ending patella tendon injury last season, Williams will almost certainly start on the PUP list this season and may not even play in 2008. Supposedly he’s been working out extremely well and has had an amazing comeback, but is still not allowed to participate contact drills.

My take is his career is basically over. I was never impressed with Carnell in the last two years. His rookie season showed tremendous potential - especially the first three games - but ultimately with an at best mediocre line and the injury bug constantly biting him Carnell never evolved into the fantasy running back many hoped he would be.

I think Carnell will come back to some fanfare, but he will never again touch elite status and then fade into the NFL abyss.
