Chicago Bears Fantasy Defense
Bears Sign Tommie Harris
This was a good move, but at the same time a no brainer. While they gave him a ton (40m over four years with 18 guaranteed), Harris has proven himself as a guy that can cause havoc and may actually be more important than Brian Urlacher is now. Next up for the Bears is both Devin Hester and Urlacher.
They need to unload money for both. Devin Hester deserves a huge contract and Brian Urlacher has earned a respectfully larger contract. The question becomes how close it gets to Harris as Urlacher is 30 and Harris is 25.
Whatever the case, as fantasy owners we’re hoping the Bears get the job done as the Bears are slight sleepers this year after an abysmal season last year and an inconsistent season before that. If they can only stay healthy - this means you Mike Brown - they can put up mammoth fantasy points and be worth of an 8th round pick with value possibly tapping into the 5th round. Three seasons ago the Bears were generating massive fantasy points nearly every game. The last two seasons Devin Hester has been covering for slightly above mediocre team D.
If this team is completely healed with everybody back, I’ve got the Bears at #2 behind Minnesota. They’ve got some question marks as to whether they gain regain their top form of 3 seasons despite age and lack of cohesiveness, but if they put the players they have on the field, they’ll put up a decent amount of points even if they have lost a step.
Adewale Ogunleye, Lance Briggs, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Alex Brown, Danieal Manning, Charles Tillman, and Nathan Vasher in addition to the names mentioned comprise an explosive fantasy defense worthy of a #2 Defensive Team Selection.
