Laveranues Coles Gets Next 2 Years Guaranteed
Fantasy Football Blog This was a good compromise by the Jets. Laveranues not only has a really hard name to spell, but has been a very solid producer for the Jets. In fantasy football terms, he fits the steady Eddie Kennison role or perhaps an older Rod Smith type of guy. You get him in the later rounds - eighth to however long he lasts before you pick him up and then he goes out and gets the job done. Not much flash or explosiveness but 1000 and 5 is about what you can expect.
That’s gold in fantasy football.
Look at Coles’ stats over the past years:
2007 - 646 yards, 6 TDs in only 12 games (though Coles plays through a lot and is about as durable and tough as they come)
2006 - 845 yards, 5 TDs
2005 - 1096 yards, 6 TDs in 16 games (outside of his rookie season and 2007 he never missed a game in his 8 years)
2004 - 950 yards, 1 TD (looks like an aberration and this was the 2nd of 2 seasons in Washington before the Jets got him back)
2003 - 1204 yards, 6 TDs
2002 - 1264 yards, 5 TDs
2001 - 868 yards, 7 TDs
200 - 370 yards, 1 TD (rookie season totals in 13 games)
He’s had some hiccups, but he looks more solid than he does flakey. I think nabbing Coles in the 9th round is a tremendous steal.
I’ll put him at 1,000 and 6 this season.
