Start: Week 3
First, here’s last week’s results (9-5 this week, 9-5 for the season):
Quarterbacks:
David Garrard - W-272 yds, 1 TD, 20 rush yds
Brett Favre - W-286 yds, 3 TDs
Running Backs:
Adrian Peterson (Vikings) - W-66 rush yds, 52 rec yds;
Michael Pittman - L-Carnell Williams surprised a lot of us by quickly putting his injury behind him to be an effective starter last week.
Wide Receivers:
Marques Colston and Devery Henderson - W,L-Colston came through with 70 yards and a TD, but Henderson had a big 0. Ouch.
Reggie Brown - L-member of struggling offense #2
Lee Evans - L-member of struggling offense #3. The good news is there is hope for Brown and Evans. Since they are the #1 WRs on their team, they will be the first to benefit from any resurgences in their respective passing games. Henderson, on the other hand, could quickly find himself buried on the depth chart.
Tight Ends:
Benjamin Watson - W-49 yds, 1 TD
Heath Miller - L-34 yds
Defense:
Minnesota - W-20pts, 4 sacks, 2 FumR, 3 INTs, 1 TD
Jacksonville - W-7pts, 7 sacks
Kickers:
Jason Elam - W-11 pts
Jason Hanson -W-8 pts. I should get some bonus points for choosing both of the guys to hit game-winning field goals in OT last week.
On to Week 3:
Quarterbacks:
Philip Rivers - The Packers have been better than expected, but their defense will still be a welcome reprieve from Chicago and New England, which Rivers faced in the first two games.
Trent Green - Green appears to be on the downswing of a largely successful career, but he has enough left in the tank to look good at times. He will look good this week against a Jets team that makes even Kyle Boller look good.
Running Backs:
Ahman Green - With Andre Johnson out, Houston will want to rely on the running game even more. They should hang close enough to the Colts to do that.
Thomas Jones - Jones goes from the New England and Baltimore defenses to the second-worst run defense in the league (and that was with Zach Thomas, who may sit out this game with concussion symptoms).
Wide Receivers:
Anquan Boldin - the Ravens haven’t shut down teams’ go-to receivers so far this year.
Shaun McDonald - I think the frustrated Eagles are going to come apart this week, and the Lions will once again have plenty of fantasy points to spread out among their four WRs.
Tight Ends:
Tony Gonzalez - Huard’s favorite target will finally end his touchdown drought.
Defense:
Cincinnati - Don’t underestimate the power of a rivalry. This isn’t the first time a Browns/Bengals score looked like it came from a pinball machine. Cincinnati will be out to prove that last week was a fluke.
Arizona - They will take advantage of Baltimore’s shaky offense that the sorry Jets D bailed out last week.
Kickers:
Nate Kaeding - A game involving two good offenses and two good defenses should result in a lot of stalled drives and field goals.
Mason Crosby - I’m going all in and taking the opposing kicker, as well.
