Start: Week 4
First, here’s last week’s results (7-4 last week, 16-9 for the season):
Quarterbacks:
Philip Rivers - W-306 yds, 3 TDs, 1 INT
Trent Green -W-318 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Running Backs:
Ahman Green -L-5 yds, 11 rec yds- I guess I could give myself a break on this one since he was injured, but I won’t–especially since the Houston running game was just so puny with or without him last week.
Thomas Jones -W-110 yds, 1 rec yd
Wide Receivers:
Anquan Boldin -W-181 yds, 2 TDs - the Ravens STILL haven’t shut down teams’ go-to receivers so far this year.
Shaun McDonald -W-76 yds, 1 TD
Tight Ends:
Tony Gonzalez -W-96 yds- His touchdown drought didn’t end, but he had his best fantasy output since week 13 of last year.
Defense:
Cincinnati -L-24 pts, 2 sacks, 2 INTs- They redeemed themselves a bit after that Cleveland debacle, but one would still hope for more out of a fantasy defense.
Arizona -L-26 pts, 4 sacks, 1 FumR- Again, not bad but not good.
Kickers:
Nate Kaeding -L-6 pts
Mason Crosby -W-7 pts- There’s a fine line between a good and bad fantasy day for a kicker.
On to Week 4:
Quarterbacks:
Matt Schaub - Even Tarvaris Jackson had a TD pass against Atlanta, so I’m not worried about Schaub missing a couple of his WRs.
Brian Griese - Could he have a better matchup for his first start? The Lions have already been torched by QBs McNabb and McCown. Detroit would probably give up 300 yds to Ronald McDonald.
Running Backs:
Brian Leonard - He may be a rookie, but he’s a special one. The Dallas D is pretty strong against the run, but Leonard has good hands and will still contribute in the passing game if the Rams fall far behind.
Marshawn Lynch - Thanks to the Jets being just about as awful as Buffalo, Lynch will get more touches this week than in the last two weeks when Buffalo got blown out.
Wide Receivers:
Santonio Holmes - Teammate Hines Ward will probably miss week 4, giving Holmes more looks. Plus the Cardinals are not exactly known for their defense.
Wes Welker - The shifty slot receiver will find plenty of holes in Cincinnati’s struggling secondary.
Tight Ends:
Dallas Clark - The Colts will likely be in another pretty close game this week, so that should mean fewer long bombs and more drawn-out drives. Expect Clark to move the chains often.
Defense:
Green Bay - The Packers will exploit Minnesota’s weakness at the QB position by racking up sacks and turnovers.
Kickers:
Rian Lindell - With the Jets as his next opponent, Lindell moves off the “sit” list. And the one that rhymes with it.
Joe Nedney - This battle for NFC West supremacy should be close and full of red-zone stalls.
