Week 5 Games: Resilient Romo
Monday Night caused even more nail-biting fantasy football finishes than usual in week 5. We Romo owners have become accustomed to big numbers week in and week out from the Dallas QB, so as the turnover total kept increasing (all thanks to Romo), we began to wonder if he would go from fantasy savior to saboteur.
Romo ended up with solid fantasy numbers again, but more importantly, his team still won the game after he turned over the ball SIX TIMES. Not only that, but the Cowboys failed to convert the tying two-point conversion, just to win possession right back on the ensuing onside kick. Then Romo threw an incompletion, then a completion to set up a long field goal. Nick Folk nailed it, but it didn’t count–Buffalo called a timeout right before the snap. So Folk had to nail it again. And he did, sending Dallas to an improbable comeback win.
This game should scare The Cowboys’ remaining opponents. Similar stuff happened to the Colts last year, where they overcame multiple turnovers and breakdowns on defense and special teams prior to the Super Bowl. When the Colts started off the Super Bowl with similar flubs, they knew they could get past it.
Now the Cowboys have that confidence. They know mistakes and bad luck don’t equal a loss, it just means they won’t win by as much.
