Week 5 News and Waiver Wire Grabs

Deion Branch, Kevin Curtis* & Bobby Engram* - Don’t forget these guys they are coming back soon.

Mewelde Moore - He’s going to be running the ball for the Steelers for a few weeks

Derrick Mason* - Flacco got the ball to him 8 times for 137 yards.  Flacco only totaled 192.  If nothing else Mason is virtually the only receiver Flacco looks to.

Matt Prater - Denver has large offensive power and Prater delivered against the Chiefs.

Mushin Muhammed - Has a great connection with Delhomme and with Steve Smith back, he has plenty of operating space.  I like him as a filler because you’re almost certain to get 50 yards and 3 catches (for those of you in ppr) every week.

Chris Henry - If you’re searching deep for a WR, he’s been a touchdown grabber in the past.  However, Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh have been anything but stellar which doesn’t bode well for Henry.  Also, his availability this weekend is uncertain.

Justin Gage* - In the unlikely event Justin Gage is on your waiver wire, I think he’s a solid plug if you need depth at WR.  He had 5 catches and 92 yards against the Vikings and is Kerry Collins go to guy.  I don’t think Vince is coming back any time soon so this status likely won’t change soon.

Zach Miller - Snag Miller if you still can.  He realized his potential against SD and Jamarcus targeted him frequently.

Duece McAllister - NO finally broke him out and 2 was back with 20 rushes and a TD.

Jason Campbell* - In the year of the unlikely QBs, Campbell is finally blossoming under Jim Zorn.  A quiet beneficiary you might consider in deeper leagues is Antaawn Randle El.

Lance Moore* - Drew Brees heavily targets this guy and this weekend he finally cashed in fantasy wise.  100 yards and 2 TDs.

Miles Austin* - Austin is becoming what Patrick Crayton owners thought they had.  He has rapidly become Tony Romo’s third favorite guy behind TO and Witten and often finds himself wide open because of those two.  I’m not sold on him continuing to pile fantasy points week-in and week-out, but there’s a ton of potential here.

* Probably not on waiver wire

Not that I recommend picking him up, but C. Benson just got added to the Bengals.  I’d rather have the roster spot, but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mention him here.

In other news, Bulger is back at the helm for the Rams.  Also, Carson Palmer insists that he will play against the Cowboys despite a sore elbow that kept him out of the Bengals loss against Cleveland.

In Tampa Bay, Ryan Grant again struggled with another 15 carry for 20 yards outing.  I know he’s hurting, but damn.  If that’s his output, why does GB even play him?  In total GB only amassed 28 yards total with Aaron Rodgers supplementing the rest.  If someone has dropped Brandon Jackson due to his 0 yards rushing, get him if you can.  GB played against a great Tampa Bay rushing D so they probably withheld him, but Jackson will start rushing more again if McCarthy doesn’t think Grant can cut it.

PS As you probably know Kiffin is out, but I don’t think that affects FF too much.
