Writing On The Wall For Shaun Alexander
One of the things I love about football is its a bottom line business. You’re either getting the job done or your not.
Alexander wasn’t getting the job done. Period. And that makes two straight years. You can claim injuries but it looked to me like a case of fat contractitis. Why Holmgren insisted on giving him the carries he did is a mystery to me. Fullback Leonard Weaver and backup Maurice Morris were paltry as well, but Alexander looked like he was running for the turf.
Oh well. The offseason has the ‘Hawks coming to their senses and adding TJ Duckett - who the Lions helped lower his stock - and Julius Jones. Jones played surprisingly well under the competition of Marion Barber, but let’s see how well he does as THE guy in Hawks land.
The effect of course is that Alexander is dead to the Seahawks. I predict he’ll be let go after the draft and some desperate team will pick him up in hopes he can rekindle some old time flames around the goal line.
Good luck with that Tampa Bay or Carolina-like team.
JJ prediction: 1000 yards rush, 5 TDs
